You don't have to be flexible to start
If you've never touched a mat before, or it's been so long it might as well be never, that's a great place to begin. The work is not about getting your body into shapes. It's about meeting it as it actually is, and learning to listen.
How beginner classes work
In Slow Flow and Alignment Hatha, every shape is broken down with cues for breath, weight, and where the joints actually want to live. Stiff bodies are welcome. Tired bodies are especially welcome. There are no surprises.
You don't need a mat that costs more than dinner. You don't need yoga clothes. You need a mat, a bit of space, and a willingness to feel.
A typical first month
- Two or three classes a week, online or in person.
- Familiar shapes, taught slowly enough that you actually feel them.
- Gentle pranayama (breathwork) at the end of most classes.
- Honest invitations to rest. Not 'rest if you need to', but rest as part of the practice.
Where to begin
The simplest start is Slow Flow for steady weeks, Yoga Nidra for tired ones, and a 1:1 session if you want a practice built around your body. Message on WhatsApp and I'll suggest where to land.
